people will resent you

people will resent you for not making the same mistakes that they did, just as you will resent them for the same reason. don't freak out. you can't be everything to everyone. you can't be loved by everyone. but you can love, you can try to love, you can look to love for a reason to love.

sometimes those people will hold you up as a shining example. don't be foolish; this is just another form of the resentment. it is a different way of refusing to understand you. similarly, be wary of paying lip service. be wary of giving advice. and never, ever, assume that you know the whole story.

everyone and their mother walks around with battered hearts these days.
